Were there closed Council meetings on this potential development?

Update April 21st, 2022: We have confirmed that the meeting on April 16th with subject “Partnership” was not about this development.

We cannot confirm or deny if there have been any closed council sessions on this Development. We ask Council to continue to be as open as possible on this matter.

We are interested in knowing more about the April 16th Closed session, agenda item 4.1, update on Partnership. We are equally interested as to why this is an update, where are the other meetings on the update or staff direction to look into a partnership?

After the closed meeting staff mentioned a partnership with the developer. We would assume that this is the same partnership discussed in the closed meeting. Under the Municipal act most reasons for a closed session are discretionary by Council. So Council can decide on keeping meetings open to the Public.

In this case Middlesex Centre has already declared who they plan to sell to and what they are selling. There is no need to have closed sessions as there is no loss of competitive advantage with disclosure. Secrecy propagates rumours about what is in the partnership. Regardless of what the partnership is, don’t build this on the Park.
