This is a very important question and is like the chicken before the egg dilemma. We have asked the Municipality staff if the Developer will continue with this project if he does not get Municipal land. They cannot speak to this. In the absence of other information we have to speculate that the Developer is likely getting some type of financial benefit over private land, otherwise he would opt to be build somewhere around Glendon Drive for increased visibility.
So it would be good to know if the Developer’s original intent was to build somewhere in Komoka and staff went to him about using Municipal land. We can only speculate that this is what happened based on what info is in the public view.
So if the Developer was originally willing to build on private development land then us stopping the use of Municipal land will mean Middlesex Centre and residents will realize the same benefits regardless of where it was built.
This is the third time that Middlesex Centre has tried to sell off the Komoka Community Centre, so this proposal might have been seen as a way to try again....just sayin’.
We are not against this Commercial Development; we are against where it is being built.
